Frequently Asked Questions
All of your questions answered
Everything you need to know about Stud or Dud.
How accurate is the information?
We use public records, publicly available information, and other permitted sources, and we work to present information as accurately as possible. Public records and third-party data can be incomplete, outdated, duplicated, changed after collection, or associated with the wrong person. Stud or Dud should be used as an entertaining, informational starting point, not the only source of truth, and as set forth in our Limitations and Disclaimers.
Can someone find out I searched for them?
We do not notify a person when they are searched on Stud or Dud. Your search activity is associated with your account and handled according to our Privacy Policy. We may maintain records as needed to operate the service, prevent fraud or misuse, provide support, comply with law, and enforce our terms.
What if I'm not satisfied?
If you have concerns about your purchase or experience, contact our support team and we will review your request. Refunds, credits, or other resolutions may be available depending on the circumstances and our refund policy.
Is this safe to use?
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect user information, including encryption in transit and other security controls. No online service can guarantee complete security, so users should also protect their account credentials and use the service responsibly.
Where does the info come from?
Stud or Dud uses public records, publicly available information, and other permitted data sources. These may include court records, property records, business records, address history, and similar sources. We do not use private surveillance data, private messages, private dating-app activity, or information obtained through hacking or unlawful access.
Is Stud or Dud a background check?
No. Stud or Dud is not a background check, consumer report, tenant screening report, employment screening report, credit report, or safety determination. It provides public-record-based information and AI-generated commentary for personal, informational, and entertainment purposes only.
What does the AI commentary mean?
Stud or Dud may use AI to summarize available information, identify possible patterns, and provide dating-context commentary. AI commentary is not a factual finding, legal conclusion, safety assessment, compatibility determination, or character judgment. AI can be incomplete, mistaken, or miss important context, so users should review the underlying information and independently verify anything important.
Can I use Stud or Dud for employment, housing, credit, insurance, or other eligibility decisions?
No. Stud or Dud may not be used for employment, tenant screening, housing, credit, insurance, lending, licensing, government benefits, or any other eligibility decision. Stud or Dud is not a consumer reporting agency and does not provide consumer reports under the Fair Credit Reporting Act or similar laws.
Does a score mean someone is safe or unsafe to date?
No. Any Stud or Dud score or summary is an informational and entertainment feature based on available data. It is not a safety rating, compatibility score, character judgment, or recommendation to date or avoid anyone. A score should be treated as a signal to consider and verify, not a final answer.
What if information about me is wrong?
If you believe information about you is inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, or associated with the wrong person, you may submit a privacy request through our designated privacy request process. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity and locate the relevant record.
Can I remove my information?
Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to submit an opt-out, deletion, correction, or other privacy request through our designated privacy request process. We will review and respond to requests as required by applicable law and our policies. Some public-record information may remain available from government sources or other third parties even if it is not displayed by Stud or Dud.
Can I use Stud or Dud to contact, confront, or expose someone?
No. Stud or Dud may not be used to stalk, harass, threaten, shame, dox, intimidate, defame, or otherwise harm another person. Users are responsible for using the service lawfully and respectfully.
